A plea to time
by Kean RiberTime heals or so they say
But does time not also take life away?
Does the body not wither and die?
I fear it does and it brings to me a sigh.
Do men and women not lose their beauty?
I dreed this to be true and sadness comes to me.
Will we over time not lose all we hold dear?
Hear we not the reaper sing to our beloved? A tear!
Do bodies not succumb to ill and disease?
Eternity she escapes us and with Phanes she us flees.
So are we to accept that time will kill us all?
Must we not embrace this and gracefully fall?
My mind does see time as the destroyer of lifes.
It does heal souls but also stabs backs with knives.
These thoughts indeed lead me to fear time.
My plea therefore to It; With dignity, leave me please behind!
